About Us

Staying Sustainable

Paramount Events’ mission extends beyond exceptional cuisine and service. We’re dedicated to fostering a sustainable future in our industry and beyond, enhancing the well-being of our team, guests, clients, and community. We are continuously improving our programs and adding initiatives to.

These practices collectively reflect a comprehensive approach to sustainability across various aspects of the business, from energy usage to waste management and food sourcing.

On-Site Greenhouse: Our on-site greenhouse hosts over 50 types of vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers, allowing us to cultivate year-round ingredients for our dishes.

Locally Sourced Foods & Ingredients: Our chefs curate the highest quality ingredients from local farms, purveyors, and suppliers.

Composting: Our culinary team collects scraps left over from food preparation. At events, we collect food scraps and items no longer fit for consumption in bins to be collected by our composting partner, WasteNot Compost. We are recognized as a Gold-Level partner with the Illinois Food Scrap & Composting Coalition.

Food Donations: By partnering with a technology-based service, Copia, our ability to seamlessly organize food donations has been made easier. Surplus food from events and overstock from our headquarters can be donated to local community organizations and nonprofits.

Biodiesel Program: We partner with a professional oil collection service to collect and upcycle our used deep-fryer oil to be converted into biodiesel and have begun using filtered biodiesel for our vehicles.

Recyclable or Compostable Disposables & Packaging: We prioritize biodegradable, post-consumer recycled, or compostable packaging materials whenever possible.

On-Site Water Stations: Our facilities have on-site water stations, eliminating the need for water bottles. We strive to supply all our events with water stations or materials that are sustainable, such as aluminum.

Other culinary sustainability practices include conscious menu creation and mindful sourcing, including a commitment to menu planning based on seasonality, storing and freezing ingredients to use year-round, offering robust plant-based menus, and avoiding seafood on the Monterey Bay Seafood Watch "avoid" list.

Other general sustainability practices include energy-efficient lighting, energy-saving practices for electronics, supply-inclusive recycling, and prioritizing materials and products that are responsibly made.

It takes a village to enact change in our practices and processes! Our Sustainability Committee, comprising members from Paramount Events and other companies within The Paramount Group, organizes regular events promoting inclusive, hands-on activities. These range from volunteering events with our nonprofit partners, cleanups along our North Branch Chicago River walkway, hosting Upcycle events, and more.
