About Zach Caddy Photography

Hey, I’m Zach! I’m a Chicago-based photographer with a bleeding heart, a cinematic eye, and an inclusive spirit.

When it comes to your wedding day, I want you to feel like your true self, no fake moments or forced smiles. My work is on the "dark and moody" side of the spectrum, inspired by the cinematography of Roger Deakins and film photography.

I lean toward a documentary/photojournalistic approach. Yeah, I want a few thoughtfully framed portraits, but what I really love is capturing those organic, candid moments that make the day feel alive.

At the end of the day, it’s not just about the style of photography; it’s about creating an energy where you and your crew can just be

—where everyone feels comfortable enough to let their guard down. That’s when the real magic happens, and that’s when I can start capturing those authentic moments.

Staying Sustainable

Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword for me—it’s baked into how I live and work. I keep my gear setup light so I can take the CTA or ride my motorcycle to jobs whenever possible. Most of what I wear is secondhand, my camera gear is used, and I keep things digital unless printing makes sense. When it does, I encourage couples to print through me, since I work with an environmentally conscious lab.

I’m also a political organizer, fighting for things like the Green New Deal because I believe real change on climate comes from collective action—and that extends to the way I run my business.

Partnering with the Green Wedding Alliance feels like a natural extension of all that. I want to connect with couples who care about their impact on the world and want their wedding to align with their values.

If you're planning a wedding that feels true to you and your values, let’s talk. I’d love to hear your story and document it with the care it deserves.
